Gotta be honest with y`all.LoL, I grabbed this from a pawn shop a few years ago - picked it up for like 2 or 3 dollars. The only real reason I chose it was because of the cover art (LoL, gotta love 3 chicks bent over in Gstrings), that & I thought maybe it was some sort of Dogg Pound (you know Snoop, Kurupt & Daz) affiliated album. That`s not the case though my friends.LoL, I still really have no idea who the Dogg Pound Posse is - however I will share with y`all what I do know. These 3 kats, or I should say doggs, probably rep` San Francisco.this is just an assumption mind you, I base it on 2 facts though.LoL, 1) their album was released thru In-A-Minute Records, which I believe is a small indy label based in the Bay Area. 2) at the end of 'Peep The Game' they use a short lil` clip from a movie or something talking about some 'bogarts from `Frisco', probably referring to the Dogg Pound Posse`s hometown.
Anyway there`s 3 members in the group; Cheeze Dogg & Chilly Dogg. As for the 3rd member`s name I couldn`t tell ya.LoL, maybe it`s Hawt Dogg, who knows someone school me please. I know what you`re sayin` to ya`self after reading the last few sentences, 'Is he for fuckin` real? That`s their names?? You`re joking right?!?' .LoL, nope well except for the whole Hawt Dogg thing of course.
Those were the names they chose to rock with.LoL, anyway once you get passed their names it`s not all that bad really. Sure they may not have the mic presence of say Snoop Dogg or the production of Daz, but they do manage to drop some good tracks. Production for the album was handled by Dr. D, Don Marsh & Jeff Valentine.
I`m not really familiar with any for these kats, but they do a decent enough job behind the boards. The albums opens up with a short lil` storytelling track 'Alias', the D.P.P.
Tell their tale using the names of guns for the names of the characters in their story. Not quite as iLL as Spice 1`s '187 Proof', but it`s still a good listen. 'Angel Dust' is a cool track warning about the dangers of drugs backed by a beat that helps carry their message, there`s also some Richard Pryor samples used. You may recognize a few samples used for the beat on 'Ride Me Like A Pony' (Kurtis Blow`s 'That`s The Breaks' being one of `em), a song that ya should be able to figure out what it`s about.LoL, the D.P.P. Drops the sexual flows in favor of some selfreflection & confession on 'Life I Chose'.
Don`t worry though the sexual lyrics were only on hold for roughly 4 minutes & 30some seconds.LoL, 'Dogg E Style' covers the complex & mind bloggin` topic of the sexual position that every man wants to put Nicki Minaj in. I personally have no idea what a 'Skunk Booty Bitch' is, but apparently the Dogg Pound Posse has no mercy for `em.LoL, at least that`s what they told me on the Housevibed 'No Mercy 4 A Bitch'. Talk about comedy in track sequencing, we go from a 'fuck a bitch' song to a love tune with 'How You Like It?' Which features Darryl DeBarge (of DeBarge Family fame). I personally didn`t like it, but hey it may be your cup of tea. 'Speaking The Truth' is next, backed by a nice soulful beat the D.P.P.
Kicks some wise words for the youth. 'Father Like Son' is another selfreflective joint, it`s ok. The beat`s very iLL, but unfortunately the D.P.P.
Can`t really rock it the way it should have been rock`D. Don`t get me wrong the content of their lyrics are deep, but it`s their delivery that just didn`t do the beat justice.
I would love to have the instrumental. Another love tune shows up in the form of 'Signed Confession' (it`s better than the first one in my opinion.LoL), it has a House/ Dance vibe to it. The Dogg Pound Posse decides to get their Grand Master Flash & The Furious Five on with 'Let That Go'. The beat uses a sample that all Hip Hop heads should recognize (that being 'The Message'), so that should give you an idea for the vibe of this track. For some reason I couldn`t help, but sign along with the hook.LoL, it`s probably the BuDDah. The album closes out with 'Peep The Game', it`s a decent track but I find at times it drowns out the rappers` voice. In the end for the 2 or 3 dollars I spent on this album I can`t complain.
The beats are DoPe & once you get passed the fact that these doggs aren`t lyricists the album`s not all that bad. So go `head & check it out for ya`self.
Here`s a short lil` documentary on the Brooklyn, New York Hip Hop group the Fat Boys that`s just under 40 minutes in length. I found it pretty interesting, especially since I didn`t know much about `em. They cover the group`s origins & original name the Disco 3. They talk about how Buff`s beatboxin` was what really got them the record deal for winning the Rap contest at Radio City Music Hall. They speak on 'Fat Boys' the group`s first single & Kurtis Blow talks about some of the experiences he had working with them. The relationship that the Fat Boys had with Charles Stettler, their manager is also covered.
They mention the movies that the Fat Boys were a part of like 'Krush Groove'& 'Disorderlies'. They talk about how the Fat Boys rocked the Fresh Fest Tours of 1984 & 1985. Of course the monumental break up of the group in 1989 is a topic that gets dissected. Markie Dee also talks about how he formed a production company with Corey Rooney & together they wrote 'Real Love' for Mary J. Blige, which ended up the first single off her album which blew up big time! Then towards the end of the documentary that talk for a bit about Buff passing away at 28 in 1995. Don`t let my quick lil` summary keep you from checkin` this out, it`s mos` definitely worth peepin` `cuz there`s lots of lil` tidbits of info` that I didn`t mention.
It`s in mp4 file format, happy watchin`. Here`s a mixtape that was put together by DJ Rhude titled 'Nas: The Found Tapes', it was released in 2011. Somehow I managed to miss out on this when it first dropped, thankfully my boy K-NyNe hipp`D me to it. In all honesty, I haven`t really given it a good listen yet.
Mainly just the short 15 or so minutes that it took me to edit up the files to share with y`all. It`s definitely got some headnodd`N joints for y`all to check out though with production from the likes of Dame Grease, The Trackmasters, Salaam Remi, Chop Diesel & a few other kats that I`m not so familiar with like Infinite Arkatechz & Wyldfyer. I`m really DiGG`n 'Your Mouth Got You In It', Dame Grease does a great job on the beat! So in the words of the mighty lyricist Nasty Nas, 'don`t sleep `cuz sleep is the cousin of Death.' Headin` on down to Texas (Houston to get specific) with this post. I was fortunate enough to come across Mr.
Mike`s debut album titled 'Wicked Wayz' for a reasonable 2 bucks so I decided to pick it up. This joint dropped back in 1996 thru Suave House Records/ Relativity Records. Now as for who Mr. Mike is I can`t really tell ya, I`m sorry.LoL, on the album cover it says he`s a part of South Circle. I found out that they were another group that was signed to Suave House around 1995 which is when they dropped the album titled 'Anotha Day Anotha Balla' - aside from that I know nothing about Mr. I apologize, I`m not totally up on the whole Texas scene yet - the Hip Hop Map`s quite big to cover.LoL, excuses - anyway let`s talk about the music.
Beatwise we are blessed with some knock`Nass shit that has some definite G-Funk influence, but there`s also that good ol` Texas vibe to `em as well. That`s all thanks to the likes of Suave House`s production team Smoke One Productions & the underrated Oakland duo of E-A-Ski & CMT.
On the mic Mr. Mike does his thang, sure he`s no Rakim but this man can sure as fuck flow & his lyrics are pretty good too! So what does this mean? Well I will tell ya, you`re in for an DoPe listen that`s what!!!
I suggest maybe throwin` this joint into your ride & lettin` it BuMP while you roll thru ya` hood with it on blast `cuz it`s sure to give your speakers a good workout. Featurewise ya get a nice lil` mix of West Coast kats like E-A-Ski & Ice Cube as well as some Down South folks like Eightball, MJG & Nola. Oh I can`t forget that the East Coast gets in on the features too.LoL, Christion handles the hook on 'Where Is Ya` Love?' Y`all may remember them as an R&B group that was down with Roc-A-Fella Records at the time of this album`s release (they even dropped an album with the Roc titled 'Ghetto Cyrano' in 1997). What`s great about 'Wicked Wayz' is that Mr.
Mike holds his own no matter who may be featured on the tracks with him, I ReSPeCT that. The albums starts off with what probably comes to most as a a surprise, that`s the 'Intro'.LoL, jokes. E-A-Ski gives the listeners a lil` briefing on what they`re about the hear, then we`re hit with the Mr. Mike & E-A-Ski collabo` 'Southwest'. It`s a DoPe track showin` that South & West Coast unity backed by a nice, funky & thumpin` beat that caters to both sides. 'G`s Perspective' is an introspective joint backed by another smoothed out G-Funk type of beat courtesy of E-A-Ski & CMT.
'Where Is Ya` Love?' Has a nice laidback kind of vibe to it with R&B group Christion signing the hook while Mr. Mike kicks some knowledge. I believe that it was one if not the only joint that was released as a single for this album. 'Total Shock' starts off with a lil` intro of some fools gettin` shot up in a driveby then Mr. Mike takes the album into a darker place spittin` some 'Killer Instinct' ish over a demonic soundin` backdrop. 'Untouchable' follows featuring some vocals from Nina Creque, this joint brings the sun back out on the album.LoL, with it`s nice chill`Dout vibes while Mike spits some of them braggidocious lyrics.
'Can You Feel Me?' Is definitely a hardass track backed by a crazy menacin` beat, serious Mob Funk right here. 'Midtro: Here`s Your Ticket' is a short lil` track just over a minute long, it`s too bad because it`s pretty iLL. It`s a cool way to break up the album though, hey at least homie didn`t decide to place a stupidass skippable skit in it`s place. Next up is the album`s title track 'Wicked Wayz' which is also an Ice Cube collabo`. Both kats do their thang well & complement each other`s styles on the mic.
'Da Boogie Man' may have a weakass hook ( 'Gangsta Boogie, Gangsta Boogie' repeated over & over.LoL), but the G-Funk`N beat more than makes up for it. Trust me it`s gon` make ya` trunk rattle! 'Dope Fiction' follows & it features an appearance from O.C. Of The Scientists, who they are I couldn`t tell ya. What I can tell ya is that both Mike & O.C. Spit some decent verses sendin` shots to all the fake fraudulent mu` fuckas in the Rap game.
Speakin` of game, that`s just what Mr. Mike is spittin` on 'Game Affiliated' over a good ol` funky beat. Next up is the hazy 'In The Midst Of Smoke' which features female rapper Nola. It`s the first track that I`ve ever heard her on so I have no clue who she really is. Maybe she`s an artist that was down with Suave House, who knows? Someone can school me I`m sure, anyway the track`s got an eerie vibe to it.LoL.
Mike lets the listeners know just what he gives `em when he`s spittin` on 'Life On Tha Line' over the backdrop provided by Smoke One Productions. The last song on the album is a collabo` with fellow label mates (at the time), the legendary Eightball & MJG titled 'Stop Lying'. The beat is on some Pimpadelic Space Funk with it`s wild synths & mellow`D out drum thumps while Mike, `Ball & MJG warn folks to watch what they spit out their mouth. All three kats rock the mic in an enjoyable fashion. So there ya have it y`all, honestly there really isn`t any garbage joints on this album so go `head & check it out for ya`self. What`s goin` on y`all?
Hope all is good. I celebrated another birthday last Friday, gotta say that it feels good to be livin` this wonderful gift called Life. Today I`m gon` share with y`all a lil` something that I started workin` on a week or two ago.
It`s not crazy super spectacular or anything like that.LoL, it`s just Chuck D`s 1996 solo album 'Autobiography Of Mistachuck' with a lil` tweakin` done to it. In a nutshell all that I have done is simple really. I just spent a lil` time separating the Intro& the Flip Squad Breaks from the tracks they were a part of to make them individual tracks instead.
For example the first Flip Squad Break was originally at the end of 'Niggativity.Do I Dare Disturb The Universe?' , I just separated it & then made it a new track on it`s own. I also cut out the silence on 'Paid' just after the Flip Squad Break from approx. 4:40-9:22 on the original track, then made the hidden joint 'The 10 Resentments Of The Industry' it`s own track.
After that I added 'It`s The Pride' a track Chuck D had featured on the 'Pump Ya` Fist' compilation released in 1995. Then I added a few cuts from Chuck D`s 'No' 12 inch (thanks to the homie JankZ for the link) to finish up things. Got a funny lil` story that I feel like sharing with y`all about this Chuck D album.
When I first copped it back in 1996 I was listening to it after a long hard day of school.LoL, ah the good ol` days, anyway I was really tired because I was up late the night before studying for a Science test so I started noddin` off to sleep. Not sure how long I was asleep for, but I was suddenly woken up from my lil` nap by the crazy sounds of Chuck D`s voice on the hidden track.let`s just say it scared the fuck outta me at first `cuz I had it BuMP`n pretty loud on my small lil` Zellers bookshelf stereo.LoL, anyway let`s get to the music shall we? I`ve always been a fan of Public Enemy ever since I first heard `em from the dubbed tape my homie Pablo hooked me up with in elementary school.
They`re still my favorite Hip Hop group to this day, so once I first heard about Chuck`s solo joint I just had to check it out. There`s no denying that Chuck D`s militant vocal tone grabs hold of your attention, so just imagine the knowledge that`s dropped without the comedy relief of Flavor Flav on Chuck`s solo effort. Don`t worry Gary G-Wiz & Eric 'Vietnam' Sadler hit us with some of that iLL Bomb Squad production to keep ish from gettin` to preachy. The album opens up with a fitting sample of a scene from the Spike Lee movie 'Clockers'.
A few of the movie`s characters are talkin` about Hip Hop & how Chuck D isn`t the hardest rapper. Sticky Fingaz (Onyx fame) actually plays the role of Scientific (one of the characters in the movie) who was a part of the previously mentioned discussion in the scene, I wonder if that`s how dude really feels or was it just script?LoL, following the short lil` Intro comes the album`s first song 'Mistachuck'.
It`s backed by an iLL beat with a sample of Jack Nicholson laughin` crazily as The Joker from the 1989 film 'Batman' while Chuck D addresses the doubters. 'Generation Wrekkked' features another uncredited appearance by Kyle 'Ice' Jason (he was also featured on 'No').
Here Chuck`s basically letting folks know that unless they change their ways of living they`re only going to keep the cycle of ignorance alive. The slick wordplay on the hook will definitely have you rappin` right along with it ( 'If I can`t change the people around me, I change the people around me.) 'Niggativity.Do I Dare Disturb The Universe?' Is a nice track about goin` against the grain.
As simplistic as the hook is I`m still DiGG`n it, maybe it`s the head noddin` beat with the organ sample.LoL, after that track is the first Flip Squad Break. 'Free Big Willie' follows the lil` radio show break with it`s funky jazzyvibed beat it`s sure to get that head bobb`N like $2 hookers on payday. Good ol` P.E. Affiliate Professor Griff shows up for a lil` interlude & kicks some spoken word/ poetry slam type ish on 'Horizontal Heroin'. After the brief lil` interlude Chuck D is joined by Abnormal, C. Brewzer & Kyle Jason on 'Talk Show Created The Fool'.
A joint where all involved attack the television talk shows of the day for all the negative influences & ignorant behavior that they choose to promote to the masses. The second Flip Squad Break follows, just like the first break it was a part of the previous track so I decided to split it from 'Talk Show.'
So it was it`s own track. This break has Da Brat (So So Def fame) callin` in to the radio show.LoL, it`s kinda funny but really only a one time type of funny. Anyway she sounds like she`s was smokin` on some of that really good Green, if she wasn`t stoned when she did that I don`t like Hip Hop.LoL, you gotta share Brat baby. 'Underdog' is a lil` cautionary tale that has Chuck warning his listeners that not everything is what is seems, in both Life & the Hip Hop game. The late, great & legendary Isaac Hayes is featured on 'But Can You Kill The Nigger In You?'
It`s a song that has both Hayes & D sendin` a message out to the Black men of the world that are livin` foul. Don`t worry The Rhyme Animal puts the preachin` on pause to let us know that he`s still an emcee.
O n 'Endonesia'he collab`s with B-Wyze & Dow Jonz, over a nice funkdafied vibe while all three kats flex some decent punchlines. The third Flip Squad Break follows the rhyme wreckin`. 'The Pride' is next, a great uplifting track about Black pride. Some may recognize this track from the 'Pump Ya` Fist' compilation that was released in 1995 however the beat isn`t the same as the one from the comp` & that joint was titled 'It`s The Pride' (either way both tracks are DoPe, that`s why I added the other joint to this album as well:). 'Paid' follows & is another collabo` track, this time Chuck invites Kendu ( Hyenas In The Desert fame)& Melquan along to kick rhymes.
Although it`s not as good as 'Endonesia' the track`s beat & scratched in Biggie sample for the hook should keep ya interested long enough to make it thru the song. The fourth & final Flip Squad Break is next, again it was originally a part of the track before it until I split it for it`s own glory.LoL, then I also removed the almost 5 minutes of silence that followed the lil` radio break to get to the hidden track which I labelled 'The 10 Resentments Of The Industry'. It`s not an actual song, Chuck D`s just basically talkin` (with his vocals slowed & fucked with to sound like a demon or some ish) about how fucked up the Industry is. It`s a real trip listening to this track off some `Shrooms that`s for sure.LoL, then again I could say the same `bout E-40. Anyways after the hidden track that`s where the album would normally end, but due to boredom mainly I decided to add a few more joints to the album so it would fill an 80 minute CD. So the first of the bonus joints if you will is the previously mentioned 'It`s The Pride', originally from the 1995 released 'Pump Ya` Fist' compilation that features such artists as KRS-One, 2Pac, Fugees & Rakim to name a few. The final four bonus cuts come from Chuck D`s 'No' 12 Inch single, gotta BiG uP JankZ for the link on that very much appreciated!
Elite Part Two Version - Clean' has the same lyrics as the one on the album, but censored of course & the beat`s a lil` more on the hornier side of things soundwise. Would love to hear an uncensored version of this! The Wreck League Massive Remake' has Chuck D sharing the mic with Kendu of Hyenas In The Desert, Son Slawta Melquan, Dow Jonz, N-Tense, Charlie Brown, Flip & Sharp of Backstabbers, B-Wyze, Outloud of Blahzay Blahzay & Kyle Johnson. As iLL as this joint is it should have been an actual bonus track on the album, my opinion of course.
The 'No Revenge Of The Anti-Pimps Acapella' is just that, an acapella. The last track on this HeRBaN DeLuXe VeRSioN is 'No The Kyle Ice Jason Instr.' (not The Lyle Ice Jason Instr. As I incorrectly labelled it.LoL, I blame my big fingers). So do ya`self a favor & check out this solo album by Public Enemy`s frontman, I`m sure a lot of headz slept on this when it first dropped. The production that`s provided by the Bomb Squad is stellar for ya` stereo & the messages that Chuck spits over said production is definitely worth the time to listen to.
It`s definitely waaaaaaaaaay better than any solo Flavor Flav album could ever even wish to sound like.LoL, that goes without sayin`! Now I DiG Flav & all but DaMn the one solo album that I heard of his was pretty bad (it`s so bad I forget it`s title).LoL, let`s just say that it`s not his greatest contribution to Hip Hop.
Who knows maybe I`ll post up that album for y`all to check out some day, but for now you have Chuck D`s 'Autobiography Of Mistachuck' with some added bonus cuts, enjoy. Takin` it back to the late `90's with this post, 1997 to be exact.LoL, hittin` y`all off with some Lord Tariq & Peter Gunz. This joint is only a CD single, but the 2 songs that are on here are DoPe! Now obviously 'Deja Vu (Uptown Baby)' is the joint that most folks know these kats for, but it`s actually the second song 'Marmalade' that`s the real banger. The beat knocks hard, not too sure why they excluded from 'Make It Reign' - their only album released back in 1998.
Anyways I`ll leave th e history of who these kats are for another post, for now check out the tunes. I figured it would be a nice gesture to share with y`all this lil` documentary on the Wu-Tang Clan surprisingly titled 'Wu: The Story Of The Wu-Tang Clan'. I believe that it was released in 2008, it`s backed by B.E.T.
& narrated by director Gerald Gee Bee Barclay. Barclay actually directed some of Wu-Tang Clan`s earlier music videos, so he kind of has a bond with them which also allows him to tell a much better story about the group as a whole. He does this using candid interviews with the group`s childhood homies like Popa Wu, Sheldon Lewis & Gano Grills. He also includes concert clips, as well as some original footage of the Wu from the local TV show ' New York Party Scene' hosted by Darrell Lefty Glover. Barclay also allows some time for a few Industry kats like A&R Bonz Malone & DJ Bobbito (to name a few) to give props to the Wu. There`s also a lil` segment that serves as a tribute to the Wu`s fallen soldier Ol` Dirty Bastard, it`s about 15 minutes or so, but it`s still long enough to celebrate his Life.

Overall I would say that this is probably one of the better documentaries that you will see about the Wu-Tang Clan, Barclay does a good job keepin` things entertaining so check it out. W`ud up y`all? Hope as is well on this chilly Saturday, at least that`s how it is around my side of town.LoL, anyways I have some new music from West Coast lyricist Ras Kass to share with y`all today. It comes in the form of a mixtape titled 'Barmageddon The Mixtape', imagine that.LoL, I wonder if they`re gon` ever start callin` them mixdiscs? Ha, it was worth ponderin` wasn`t it??
Back to the music.this mixtape includes 6 tracks that are from Ras Kass` forth comin` 'Barmageddon' LP. It also includes an unreleased HRSMN joint was well as some joints recorded exclusively for this mixtape (it`s either that or they`re left over tracks recorded during the 'Barmageddon' LP sessions). DJ J-Ronin hosts the mixtape while Tramlife handle the mixing.
Honestly, I just started listening to this earlier this morning so I haven`t really given it a solid listen yet, but at a quick BuMP it`s pretty iLL. The beats are nice, that`s for sure! There`s a huge list of guest appearances on this tape rangin` from the well known to some folks that aren`t quite so familiar to the ears; Agallah, Crooked I, Kurupt, Doc Hollywood, Evidence, Raekwon, Freeway, Saigon, Immortal Technique, E-40, Planet Asia, Kendrick Lamar, Shabam Sadeeq, Tri-State, Picaso, JR&PH7, Diabolic, ProVerb, Chace Infinite, Sav Killz, J-Natural, Crazy Lil` Dude, Mike City, Dina Rae, Onis, Stacee Adams, 210 West, Snoop Dogg, David Banner, Nipsey Hussle & Kree. So far the joints that I`m feelin` are; 'The Great Recession', 'Red Carpet', 'Who Want What?'
, 'Judas', 'Dreadnots', 'Manna', 'Sushi', 'Californication'& 'L.A. That`s all I`m gon` say about this joint for now, go `head & check it out for ya`self.
What`s happenin` y`all? Hope Life is still treatin` ya well, I can`t complain. Today I have an album by a duo that most of y`all probably know of from their time spent signed to Master P`s No Limit Records during the second half of the 1990`s, Kane & Abel. Well before they linked up with P & his label they were actually rappin` under a different moniker & that was Double Vision. As I`m sure you can tell by the album cover, David & Daniel Garcia are identical twin brothers (from New York) so I can only take a guess that Double Vision was a play off of that aspect of their real Life.
They dropped their debut album titled 'Keep Your Eyes Open' in 1995 on Doral Records. Production on the album was handle by the likes of Grizz, Ivan Varnado, Yusef & DJ Lil` Daddy.

I`m not too familiar with any of the producers, but I think Grizz has done some joints with Willie D. Featurewise Taifa brings some of her RaggaReggae vibes to a couple tracks, Devious is featured on 2 joints, Fiend (another ex-No Limit soldier) joins the smokin` session on 'Ridin` High', while the late MC Thick (he was murdered in 1996) contributes to a track & a lil` skit that immediately follows his featured track.
Much like the sound of other preNo Limit/ Cash Money albums this joint has a mix of production that`s clearly influenced by N.O. Bounce, but it also draws influences from the West & East Coasts as well. Now Kane & Abel (or Double Vision) aren`t the iLLeST lyricists to ever spit raps, but they do a real good job at tellin` `hood tales. I guess that`s why they eventually branched off & started writing fiction novels & movie scripts later on in their career as well as music. I was hopin` to have enough time to write out a trackbytrack review for this album, but since it`s my wifey`s birthday today I`m gon` have to cut this post a lil` short. My apologies, I just wanted to share this album with y`all while it was on my mind.LoL, it may be somewhat of an unknown to some, so enjoy. Standout joints for me are; 'Profitz In The Kut', 'Code Red', 'Ridin` High', 'When They Come' (DoPe even if it`s just a short interlude) & 'Sipping Away'.
So go `head & check it out for ya`self. Oh yeah, something to take note of I was a lil` on the tiredside last night when I was tagging/ labeling the tracks & I actually titled the album 'Keep Ya` Eyez Open' for some reason.LoL, it`s the same album as mentioned in the post I just gimp`D & labelled it wrong, my bad. Here`s a lil` mix that I put together just before the New Year, it`s got the usual mix of both older & new tracks. I started things off with some Redman & some tracks that featured him as well, then moved it on with some Eminem & some tracks that he was a guest on. 'The Warning' is a humorous DiSS track aimed at Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon both. Thought it was MaD funny how Em` used samples of Mariah`s voice from a socalled studio session that they had together.now that`s some dirty play`N!
Is just one of the DoPe tracks off that joint album by KRS-One & Buckshot (if ya haven`t heard their 'Survival Skills' album yet I strongly suggest that you do!) 'Wack MC`s' follows, thought it was a good choice since it features a nice lil` KRS-One sample for the hook - Slaughterhouse rips up the track nicely as well.Still on the Slaughterhouse tip, I decided to add solo tracks from each member to the mix CD. Started things off with Crooked I, Joell Ortiz, Joe Budden, then Royce Da 5`9. Royce`s 'Part Of Me' features some great storytelling, I`m tellin` you Slick Rick would be proud.
'Bang-Bang'; a surprising collabo` between La Coka Nostra & Snoop is followed by '100 Miles & Runnin`' another East & West Coast collabo` featuring Warren G, Raekwon & the king of hooks Nate Dogg. The 'Renaissance Rap Rmx' is one of my favorite joints on this mix. Q-Tip rounds up Busta Rhymes, Raekwon & Lil` Wayne for what seems like an updated version of the Juice Crew`s CLaSSiC track 'The Symphony'. I don`t really think that Marley Marl would complain at all since all 4 emcees rock the mic.' Speed Of Light' & 'Hood Dreamer' follow - both are hot tracks, but I really want to talk about the last 2 joints on this mix. 'Eat A Dick' is a previously unreleased track of Snoop Dogg`s, but thanks to the folks over at WIDEawake Entertainment we actually got to hear it.
It`s a track from 'The Death Row: The Lost Sessions, Vol. 1' album that they released back in October of last year. If you haven`t heard it yet & you`re a BiG fan of Snoop`s then you need to hear it! 'Slaves' is the last track on this mix & it`s a joint by Sam Sneed. One of my friends told me that it`s a new joint, but I really have no idea. Hopefully it is because I`d like to hear some more music from Sam Sneed, especially since he didn`t really get to drop too much music while he was workin` with Death Row Records. Anyways that`s enough yapp`N for now, hope y`all enjoy the mix.
Got a lil` gift for y`all today & it comes courtesy of the homie MiSTa DiLLiGaF, I`m not too sure if he ripped this from the VHS tape or not but either way BiG uPs goes out to him for passing it along to me! This lil` gift that I`m talkin` about is a home video (no not shot by Das EFX, but home video meaning that you watched the video at home in your VCR.c`mon son it was 1992) that Das EFX released as promo back in 1992 for their debut album 'Dead Serious', so it shouldn`t be so surprising that this video shared the same title as their album. Although the tape is kind of rare the video itself isn`t really all that mind blowin`, but for nostalgic purposes it`s cool. The running time is just under 30 minutes, you get to see a few of their music videos, some short lil` interviews & a couple live performances. In total there`s probably about 6 or 7 minutes of Skoob & Krayzy Drayzy talkin` about where they`re from, how they started as a group, describin` their styles, etc. The lil` interview segments take place in between their music videos & live performances, while everything was shot on the set of the music video for 'Straight From The Sewer'.
During the interview segments you can see that they both come across as some regular humble kats that love their craft to the max`. Something to take notice of is when the live performances start, it`s kind of cool to see Redman workin` behind the 1`s & 2`s as Das` DJ. So do ya`self a favor & check it out for ya`self, enjoy. What`s happenin` y`all? Hope all is well. Today I`m gon` BLeSS the blog with another HeRBaN DeLuXe VeRSioN, this time around Mobb Deep`s 'The Dunn Language Vol.
1' gets the HeRBaN LyRiX treatment. Now for those that don`t know about 'The Dunn Language' I`ll share with ya what I know of it. It`s a bootleg & I believe that it was released on the `Net back in 2002, it`s quite possible that it was put together by a fan or fans.
The bootleg contained a lot of unreleased Mobb Deep joints, some 12 inch cuts & a few released cuts like 'Hoodlum' off the soundtrack of the same name. It`s a pretty nice collection of Mobb Deep tracks, the only down side about this bootleg is that the sound quality of a few tracks was pretty bad. A whole lot of pops & clicks, especially at the ends of the tracks. Not only that there were a few tracks that were actually cut short for some reason.
For example 'Microphone Master Sewa/ 41 St. Side Rmx' cut off at 3:10 when it`s actually 5:07 in length, while 'Know Da Game' cut off at 1:46 when it`s actually 4:27 long.
I figured that since this was a pretty decent bootleg, trackwise anyway I wanted to give it a lil` revamp. Takin` it back to 1994 for your listening pleasure today, this EP is Bone Thugs-N-Harmony`s first release after they signed with Eazy-E`s Ruthless Records & revamped their name (changed from Bone Enterpri$e to Bone Thugs-N-Harmony). What we get is 6 actual songs, an Intro & an Instrumental - what more do you expect for an EP?LoL, anyway the production is handled by DJ U-Neek, DJ Yella, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony & Eazy-E even steps up to help produce the EP`s Intro (along with DJ Yella). The features are kept to a minimum & come from Eazy-E & Shatasha Williams (I believe she was a member of Mo Thugs). 'Thuggish Ruggish Bone' was the EP`s lead single, it did pretty well on the Billboard Charts. 'Foe Tha Love Of $' was the EP`s second single & it features the late & great Eazy-E. Something interesting to mention about 'Foe Tha Love Of $', it shares the same beat as a song from 1991 by Yomo & Maulkie (another group signed to Ruthless Records) off their debut album titled 'Are U Xperienced?'
(The song`s titled 'For The Love Of Money', what a surprise.LoL), I believe that DJ Yella also produced the track. Guess he felt that Yomo & Maulkie didn`t rock it right.LoL, either way I`m glad he gave it to the Bone Thugs-N-Harmony `cuz they ended up droppin` a great song with their version of the track. On the 'Intro' Eazy-E opens up the EP by introducing the World to the group newly signed (at the time) to his Ruthless Records label over a slowed down but sinister beat that includes gun shot samples while Eazy-E`s voice itself is also slowed down to give it an almost demonic sound. Oujia' (misspelled on the album`s back cover art as 'Mr. Quija') is a short lil` interlude of sorts that has Bone Thugs harmonizin` over no beat but the cold winds blowin`.
Chantin`, 'Ouija are you with me? I want to know my future.
Will I die a bloody murda?' It`s kind of creepy, but it definitely does help set a darker tone for the rest of the EP. The lead single 'Thuggish Ruggish Bone' is the track that really started the spark for Bone Thugs. It`s a straight CLaSSiC; the DJ U-Neek produced beat, the hook sung beautifully by Shatasha Williams & then there`s the verses from Bone themselves. You definitely get to hear how each member of the group compliments the next member`s style.
'No Surrender' follows (some of y`all may have also heard this joint on the compilation album 'One Million Strong'), it`s another DoPe production by DJ U-Neek. Bone Thugs ride this one really well, the synthed out vocals on the hook are pretty iLL too. Rhythm D provides a nice dark, creepin` up on your enemies type beat with it`s nice trunk rattlin` bassline on 'Down Foe My Thang' while the Thugs-N-Harmony flex rapidfire flows. The EP`s title track 'Creepin` On Ah Come Up' is next & it`s produced by DJ U-Neek, with it`s mellowed out beat Bone Thugs plot & scheme about how`s they`re gon` get that ca$h. The second single off the EP, 'Foe Tha Love Of $' follows & it features a guest appearance from Eazy-E. As mentioned before the track`s produced by DJ Yella while the Thugs-N-Harmony deliver some of their more memorable verses over the beat.
The instrumental for 'Foe Tha Love Of $' closes out the EP (actually titled 'Moe Cheeze') but it`s got a lil` extra done to the beat with a woman moanin` on a sexual tip & then some piano keys are also added to the mix. So there ya have it go `head & check out the music, oh yeah the music videos are in mp4 file so ya should be able to watch `em on your i-Pods. Back again with the follow up to Zagg`s debut album, 'Through The Eyes Of She'. This joint was released in 2005 & unlike her debut she actually goes by Zigg Zagg here. Like she says in her own words on the Outro it`s 'The Diary of she through the eyes of her'. Compared to her debut, this one is most definitely a much more deeper/ emotional type album.
You can definitely hear her growth in subject matter as she tackles such topics as suicide, broken relationships, Life`s stresses & struggles & her love for music to name a few. Lately I`ve been on a No Limit Records kick, listening to a lot of the label`s older ish from 1995 to 1998. What started it all was Mia X`s debut album from 1995 'Good Girl Gone Bad'. Seen it at a pawn shop & scooped it up for a steal ($2), from there I just started to dust off other No Limit releases that I had in my collection. Anyway for those not familiar with Mia X, let me fill you in.
Mia X was born & raised in New Orleans, despite what many folks/ websites believe she never lived in New York. Maybe they got it twisted because she started her Hip Hop roots at the early age of 13 in 1984 as a member of New Orleans` first Hip Hop group New York Incorporated. The group consisted of members Mannie Fresh, Denny D, Mia X & DJ Wop.The reason for the group`s name is pretty simple really, Denny D was the founding member & he was from Hollis, Queens.

They stuck it out for a few years, but in 1987 things came to an end when Denny D returned to New York. A lil` bump in the road, still Mia kept it movin`.Life happens however & she decided to put the Rap game on hold for a few years. Mia was blessed with a child & decided that she needed to do what was best & that was to be a mother. After a few years though the Hip Hop bug came BuZZ`n around & bit her again.LoL, so in 1992 she dropped her first single thru Lamina Records, 'The Payback'. The single did pretty well sellin` roughly 77, 000 copies. A few years later (around 1994) comes Master P who at the time was just starting to get his record label No Limit off the ground. Lookin` to gather some more artists for his stable, he stepped to Mia X since he had been impressed by the success of her single.
The two chopped it up & eventually she was down with P & his No Limit label, becoming 'the first lady of The Tank'. In 1995 'Good Girl Gone Bad' was released, on the production side of things KLC, Master P, Mo B. Dick, Tre 8, K-Lou & Al Eaton handled the beats. For a debut album Mia X brings a decent amount of topics to the listeners` ears. From tales of babyfather`s fakeass no good friends ( 'Yo` Boyz'), scandalous men anthem ( 'Can`t Trust A Man'), a single mother`s tribute to her son ( 'My Everything'), a tribute to her murdered friend ( 'R.I.P. Jil'), paper cha$in` ( 'Mission 2 Get Paid') to reppin` for the ladies straight rhyme flexin` & bashin` the men ( 'Payback II'). Lyrically Mia X can hold her own, I find that she shine`s best when spittin` the deep emotional ish, but she can also bring it on the lyrical tip from time to time. The only thing that I really didn`t like much about this album was the beats, they could`ve been a lot harder.
Regardless this makes for a good listen, so go `head & check it out.
