Universal Carbine Serial Numbers
A long time friend has died and left a couple of firearms that his wife wants to dispose of. Now, I have known this man well for 35 years and never knew he owned any firearms so shooting was not a priority with him. I want to help this nice lady set a fair price and assit her in the sale as she is now a tad bit over 85 years old and not interested in going to a gun shop.
One of the guns is a Universal 30 Carbine. I have held them in the past but never shot one. The only comments I have ever heard about them revolved around them being junk and they would not function reliably. Of course the people talking had never shot or owned one either but they were repeating the 'wisdom' of the gun club. Mostly rumors and speculation presented as fact. Certainly not the kind of information that can be trusted to be fact.
Have any of you actually owned and operated a Universal Carbine? Are they as bad a the gun club pundits say or is that all BS from self proclaimed 'experts'?
Thanks

Feb 26, 2014 Recently I purchased an Universal carbine M1.30 manufactured by Carbine Inc in New Jersey. It has serial Number AA 32xxx and only one recoil spring. Does anyone know when was it manufactured. I was in Vietnam war and used carbine M2 so I love this piece of history. Your serial number was in a block of serial numbers assigned to Winchester in December 1941.these early Winchester carbines if unaltered and in good condition can go for between 800-2,000 dollars.

He just doesn't have all the hype that Bayne does over one lucky win at a RP track. That is what Kyle does for the Trucks Series also.At this time, Kyle will not be running the following Nationwide races: 2 Nashville races, 2 Iowa races, first of 2 Chicagoland Nationwide races, Elkhart Lake, IRP,and Montreal.
