He looked impressive in his ARCA starts and this only adds to his resume. With the Truck Series lowering the minimum age requirement from 18 to 16 for short tracks and road courses next year, I wouldn't be surprised if he makes a couple starts next year.

After the race they were the ones who alerted Ricky 'Adolph' Brooks about the Tungsten and effectively took Tech into their own hands. That single piece made 0 difference in performance, and it didn't merit a DQ. Tungsten is legal at every other race Chase is in, including the Pro Late Models the night before. If the entire car was full of it then DQ him, not for an honest mistake that didn't aid performance. No one likes a rat.  17.

I am not going to put him down as a future owner of anything yet, he's shown he is a quick adapter as he jumped in Hamlin's car during the Food City 500 this year and driving in relief of Kyle Busch. Toyota's lead people feel they have him locked down in a Toyota at least for the foreseeable future but that can change in an instant. Even with a considerable amount of talent it will take a period of years to learn how to race and win in these cars, he's shown he can run well but it'll be interesting to see how Erik Jones handles an array of 500-mile races in a row and stringing success together and being consistent on a daily basis. My only concern is what Toyota team will he drive for? Gibbs already has four teams, one of those has to open up for him to have a chance. There are only so many open slots. Another concern I have is Joe Gibbs Racing has never had much luck with young drivers, they have always done well with established guys, Dale Jarrett, Bobby Labonte, Matt Kenseth, Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, Tony Stewart(the only exception)(Raced in Indycars) with the exception of Denny Hamlin who has been their only Gibbs-guy who started with the organization in Busch/XFINITY series and is there to this day.  48.

The difference is that Gordon did not do much to be a driver owner in NASCAR with the fact that he hired Ray Everham to form Gordon-Everham Motorsports.

The thing is, Rick Hendrick had the money to start a fourth team with Jeff being an equity owner and recruiting Jimmie to lead that race team.Meanwhile, when you look at Kyle Busch, he started his own Truck team in 2010 and it took him like three years to find a rising star and was fortnunate enough to recruit a rising star in Erik Jones to be a development driver for Joe Gibbs Racing. Fast forward to now, I think Kyle Busch will have to sit in the team meetings with Joe Gibbs at some point this year and say whether it is ok to have Erik Jones to replace one of the current Cup drivers in their stable. It's too early to tell which one of te three vacate their Cup seat to Erik depending on how things will shake out.I don't want to dig too deep into the similarities since the 'Apples to Oranges' comparison will refute my previous post. IMO, I think Erik Jones is ready for a Cup ride because he can lead as many laps like Kevin Harvick at some point in his career.  92.
